Karam Gaber Egypt’s Wrestling Legend

Karam Mohamed Ibrahim Gaber (born 1 September 1979, Alexandria) is one of Egypt’s most celebrated wrestlers, known for his achievements in Greco-Roman wrestling.
Gaber started wrestling as a child in Alexandria, inspired by his family. He rose through African, Arab, and international competitions, winning multiple gold medals and establishing himself as a top contender.
His career highlight came at the 2004 Athens Olympics, where he won gold in the 96 kg category, Egypt’s first Olympic wrestling gold in 76 years. He later added a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics, cementing his legacy.
Beyond the Olympics, Gaber has coached young athletes, contributed to sports programs in Egypt, and continued competing successfully in veteran championships. Known for his resilience and skill, he remains a national icon and inspiration for future generations.
