Al Ahly men’s handball team secured the Egypt Cup for the second straight year and the 12th time in their history with a 36-28 win over Olympic Club on Thursday at Hassan Moustafa Hall.
The Red Eagles took control early, using a disciplined defensive display to build a 16-12 lead by halftime.
They extended their advantage after the break, combining compact defending with quick counterattacks to close out a comfortable 36-28 victory under head coach David Davis.
The triumph marks Al Ahly’s fourth title of the season, adding the Egypt Cup to their Professional League, Egyptian Super Cup and African Clubs Championship titles.
Club president Mahmoud Al-Khatib congratulated the first handball team players, coaching staff, management, and medical team after winning the Egyptian Cup for the second consecutive time and the twelfth time in Al-Ahly's history.
The president praised the players' outstanding performance and high spirits throughout the cup campaign, their determination to win the title, and their fourth championship this season, following their victories in the Professional League, the Egyptian Super Cup in the UAE, and the African Clubs Championship in Morocco.
Al-Khatib emphasized that the championships won by the handball team represent a distinguished achievement for the current generation of players, while simultaneously placing a great responsibility on everyone to continue this success.
He highlighted the team's participation in the African Super Cup and the African Cup Winners' Cup, which will be hosted by the Democratic Republic of Congo next May, aiming to bring joy to Al-Ahly's fans, who are the primary motivation behind all the club's successes and victories.
