Al Ahly won the African Men’s Volleyball Club Championship, beating Rwanda’s Police VC 3-0 in the final in Kigali on Saturday.
The match, held at BK Arena, saw the Egyptian side extend their record as the competition’s most successful club with a 17th title.
Al Ahly took control early, winning the first set 25-20, and maintained their dominance in the second, 25-21, with strong serving and blocking.
They sealed the title with a 25-22 win in the third set, producing a decisive display of powerful attacking and disciplined defence.
The victory completes a clean sweep of five titles this season for Al Ahly, who have also won the domestic league, Super Cup, Super League and Egypt Cup.
Captain Mahmoud El Khatib, the club president, congratulated the first volleyball team players, coaching staff, management, and medical team on winning the African Clubs Championship held in Rwanda. He also congratulated them on continuing their winning streak, having already secured the Egyptian League, the Super League, the Egyptian Super Cup, and the Egyptian Cup, thus achieving a historic quintuple.
He praised the players' high spirits, outstanding performance, and determination to win all the championships the team participated in this season, emphasizing that this achievement is the result of teamwork and cooperation among all members of the club.
The club president also extended his congratulations to Al Ahly's fans, who deserve to be proud of the team and its accomplishments, given their continuous support and significant encouragement, which has been instrumental in motivating all the club's sports teams in various tournaments.
Captain Mahmoud El Khatib expressed his full appreciation for the volleyball team's operations, stressing that these successes are a result of commitment, discipline, and a constant desire to win and raise Al Ahly's name in continental and international arenas.
