Kabaddi is a fast, high-energy contact sport built on speed, strength, and quick decision-making. Originating in South Asia, it has grown from a traditional game into a modern competitive sport gaining popularity across clubs and international competitions.

Played between two teams of seven players, the game revolves around a “raider” entering the opponent’s half, tagging defenders, and returning safely in one breath while chanting “kabaddi, kabaddi.” Every raid is a short battle of timing, teamwork, and control.

Despite requiring no equipment, kabaddi demands elite fitness, agility, and coordination. The pace is constant, and momentum can change within seconds, making it both unpredictable and exciting to watch.

As part of this feature interviews were conducted with Captain Eid Sobhi, Former Head Coach of the Egyptian National kabaddi team, and Captain Seif Yasser, captain of Tairan Club first team.

Captain Eid highlighted the sport’s growing structure in Egypt and the need for stronger development systems. Captain Seif Yasser emphasized leadership, teamwork, and discipline as key factors in competitive performance.

Kabaddi continues to evolve into a modern sport while keeping its raw , traditional intensity, fast, physical, and always decided in moments.
