National team winning in 2017
Dodgeball is no longer just a schoolyard game, its a modern competitive form that is a fast, highly- focused sport that’s starting to draw attention in Egypt.
Two teams consist of 6 members face off on a marked court and try to eliminate opponents by hitting them with a ball, while dodging and catching to stay alive.
The match is half an hour divided into two quarters and each quarter is divided to 3 mins. In these 3 minutes each team has to pick up the 5 balls in the yard and hit the opponent team with these balls. At the end of the 3 minutes the team who has the greater number of members in the court wins that round. The team that wins the most rounds wins the game.
Smart catches and quick transitions can flip defense into instant counterattacks. Core skills include reaction speed, accurate throwing, safe catching, footwork, stamina, and teamwork-driven tactics.
The first world cup competition for Egypt was in Manchester in England 2016 and the team didn’t achieve high accomplishments as they got the 8th place.
In 2017, the national team got the first place in African cup which was held in Egypt and this competition ascended them to world cup in New York 2018 where they got the 5th place.
Now The Egyptian Dodgeball Federation announced that Egypt will host the 1st African & Middle East Youth Dodgeball Championship in Cairo on 5–7 February 2026.
